Violence Continues in France, with over 3,000 Arrests so far; A minor was killed in Police Firing. The Grandmother said, "Stop the Attacks on Schools, Put an End to the Riots."


Violence has continued in France following the death of a 17-year-old boy in police custody.

According to French media, the police arrested 49 people on Sunday. Prior to this, 719 people were arrested on Saturday, and 1,300 people on Friday. Over 3,000 people have been detained in France so far.

The Paris police chief said that it would be premature to say that the riots have ended. The damage has been reduced, but we will continue to exercise caution moving forward.

The grandmother of Nahel, who was killed by a police bullet, appealed to people on Sunday to refrain from violence. She said, "Stop the riots, stop destroying things. Don't break windows, don't attack schools. We want things to be okay." Following her appeal, a decrease in violence was observed.

Violence erupted after the incident on 27th June; On 27th June, in the suburban area of Nanteuil, Paris, two police officers stopped a car. During an argument, one of the police officers shot 17-year-old Nahel in the head while the car was in motion. Nahel succumbed to his injuries from the gunshot. Following this incident, violence erupted in the country, which continues to this day.

Most of the detainees in France are minors; Amid the riots in France, the majority of detainees are minors. France's Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, has revealed that the average age of over 2,000 detainees is 17 years old.

More than 50 security personnel have been injured in the violence. Rioters have caused damage to 74 buildings, including 26 police stations. Over 577 vehicles have been set on fire.

Attack on Mayor's House, Wife and Sons Escape;
During the weekend, between Saturday and Sunday night, rioters attacked the house of the mayor in a nearby area of Paris. They rammed a car into the mayor's house and set it on fire. During the incident, the mayor's wife and their 5 and 7-year-old sons were inside the house. All three managed to escape and save their lives. However, the mayor's wife and one of their sons sustained injuries during the incident.

Meeting with Political Leaders, France's President to Hold Discussions;
French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with leaders from both houses of parliament on Monday. Macron will also meet with mayors from 220 towns and cities on Tuesday.
